Maybe behind the:
                                              Christmas presents
                          hospital corners
                          and the chewable vitamin C

There was a feminist lurking

(I mean, since I’ve know her she’s always worn pants – I even saw her light a cigarette once)

Maybe mum was a feminist.

I went to university.
Went on the pill.
Was encouraged to read.
read read read

While she was undercover –
                        making dinners
                        working full time
                        checking for spots on the mirror

Maybe I am because she is
She is because I am
I must be because of her.
Because she was
                               Mum is a Feminist
