I research and teach in the areas of teacher education and curriculum in connection with language, literacy and culture. My background is in interdisciplinary studies in first and second languages, literature, and cultural studies, with degrees from the Freie Universität Berlin and the University of British Columbia. I have taught in K-12 classrooms with the Vancouver School Board and in international teacher education at Simon Fraser University. My current research focuses on writing and reading in between local and global languages, cultures, and curricula. Upcoming book publications include "In all the universe": Placing the texts of culture and community in only one school and Curriculum intertext: Place/language/pedagogy (Peter Lang Publishers).
