William F. Pinar currently holds a Canada
Research Chair in the Centre for International Curriculum in the
Faculty of Education at the University of British Columbia. He
has also served as the Frank Talbott Professor at the University
of Virginia and the A. Lindsay O'Connor Professor of American Institutions
at Colgate University; he taught at the University of Rochester
1972-1985. He is the author of Autobiography, Politics, and
Sexuality (Peter Lang, 1994), The Gender of Racial Politics
and Violence in America (Peter Lang, 2001), the senior author
of Understanding Curriculum (Peter Lang, 1995), and the
editor of Queer Theory in Education (LEA, 1998). He is President
of the International Association for the Advancement of Curriculum
Studies (www.iaacs.org). Bill lives in Surrey, B.C. with his partner
Jeff Turner; he has one son (Gabriel, a "techie" working in San
Francisco).
