This article takes the reader into a creative research
practice that is in progress and articulates the emergent
unfolding of an arts-based inquiry. The intention is
to offer a glimpse into a/r/tography (Irwin and de Cosson,
2004) as ritual, a form of living inquiry (Meyer, 2005)
that is not simple to define or describe. The role of
ritual is brought forward as a form that has the potential
to weave and mend the gaps that exist between the dualistic
categories of the body and the mind. The lens that I
am most practiced drawing upon is that of the artist.
The exposure of and reflection on the raw creative research
is the substance of this inquiry and this article. This
is a vulnerable location to write from; not readily shared
by artists, researchers, or educators, yet this is often
where the richest dialogue and learning is situated.
This is an invitation to enter the multiple layers of
a non-linear ritual process through trance, performance
ritual, poetic renderings, and visual art within the
framework of a/r/tographical inquiry. |
