SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Poems
Studio welcomes submissions of poems. Submit no more than six
poems at a time, with a contributor’s note, in a Word attachment. Poems
should be previously unpublished unless invited by the editors, and poets
should wait to hear about their submission before submitting again. If
accepted, poets may also send audio versions of their poems. Response
time is 3-6 months. Audio recordings of poets are welcome. Sound files
should be saved as AIFF, AAC or MP3.
Prose
Generally, Studio welcomes creative non-fiction essays, interviews, and
book reviews. Studio is especially interested in essays on the relationship
between poetry, education, and contemporary culture, and essays may address some
of the following questions: What are the current debates and issues in the teaching
of poetry? Are creative writing programs effective? What are the qualities of
an excellent teacher/mentor? Can the writing of high quality poetry be taught?
Does poetry have a role to play in education and in the public sphere? Can poetry
matter in global contexts of contemporary culture, politics, and education? Can
poetry be a mode of research and investigative practice?
Poetry Videos and Audio Performances
Studio is interested in brief literary performances and videos. Short
short films related to the themes of Studio. Sound files
should be saved as AIFF, AAC or MP3 and video files should be submitted
as Quicktime preferably or on DVD. Contact the editor via email how to
submit large video files over the internet.
Submissions may be sent to StudioPoetry@gmail.com. Subject headings should read ‘Studio.’ Include a contributor’s note and a reliable E-mail address where you can be reached. Studio requires first-time world rights for unpublished submissions. Rights revert to the author on publication.
